Getting ready to travel overseas on a Student exchange program is very exciting time. It truly is a privilege to be able to experience a different culture and learn beyond the classroom. It can also be an overwhelming time preparing for the trip. We have prepared the ultimate packing guide to assist with the planning!
Carry on Bag (This is the bag that you bring on the plane)
- Phone
- International Sim Card (This is provided on orientation night)
- Headphones
- Phone charger
- Reading book / E-book
- Any Study material provided by your teacher for the trip (Great way to get a head start on what you will be learning)
- Passport
- Photocopy of your passport (This is in case you lose the original)
- Boarding pass
- Travel Itinerary and relevant documents
- Medicare Card

- Debit Card or Money
- Personal Wallet
- Face wipes
- Tooth paste and Tooth brush
- Travel size Mouth wash
- Deodorant (Roll on only)
- Band-Aids
- Prescription medication (if required – Ensure all medication and liquids are in Clear Travel Bag. All Liquids going on board the plane need to be 100mls or less in volume)
- Mints
- Change of outfit (Changing into a fresh outfit before landing makes you feel fresh)
Toiletries

- Face moisturizer
- Sun cream
- Shampoo & Conditioner (Travel size – Depending on your time overseas only bring what you will need. There is nothing worse than a heavy suitcase!)
- Tooth brush & Tooth paste (Travel size)
- Body wash (Travel size)
- Mouth Wash (Travel size)
Below are for the ladies:
- Hair Ties
- Hair brush
- Make – up
- Shower Cap
- Tampons or Pads
- Hair straighter or Blow dryer (Tip – Check the voltage isn’t too high otherwise these won’t work. There are travel ones available)
Below are for the fellas:
Clothing –These items will depend on what season you will be traveling into. This is an example for a European Winter for 2-4 weeks.
- Casual Pants (3-4)
- Formal Pants (1-2) – (You may be taken out by your host family to what ever functions that have on during your stay, it is always a good idea to be prepared for a formal occasion)
- Coat (1-2)
- Raincoat (1)
- Long Sleeve Tops (7) – Being a part of home stay you will be able to wash clothes.
- Shoes (2-3) – Comfort, comfort, and more comfort! Ensure these are comfortable as possible. There will be a lot of walking and there is nothing worse than sore feet.
